Rules and Regulations

B.A., B.L., (HONS.) DEGREE COURSE – REGULATIONS
Attendance Regulations:

          A student has to earn 80% of attendance in each semester to take the examination. Where a student earns 75% and above but below 80% of attendance, the academic committee may recommend condonation of attendance for genuine reasons. If a student fails to earn 75% attendance, he/she will not be eligible to take the semester examination and he/she must redo the entire semester.

Conduct:
          Continuous good behavior and conduct of a student is a pre requisite for taking the examination in each Semester.

Working Days:
          The School of Excellence will have 5 days a week schedule. Each semester will have 90 working days.

Class Hours

9.30 a.m. to 11.30 a.m. :2 hours
11.30 a.m. to 11.40 a.m. :Tea Break
11.40 a.m. to 1.40 p.m. :2 hours
1.40 p.m. to 2.10 p.m. :Lunch Break
2.10 p.m. to 3.10 p.m. :1 hour (Special Lectures/Guest Lectures)
3.10 p.m. to 4.10 p.m. :1 hour (Library)

Examination Marks for attendance:

81% to 85%                : 1 Mark
86% to 90%                : 2 Marks
91% to 95%                : 3 Marks
96% to 100%              : 4 Marks
The minimum marks for pass in the internal assessment and written examination shall be 45% respectively.

Classification:

› If a student secures 45% to 49%, the student shall be declared to have PASSED the Examination.

› If a Student secures 50% to 59%, the student shall be placed in Second Class

› If student secures 60% to 69% the student shall be placed in First Class

› If a student secures 70% and above, the student shall be awarded Distinction

› For award of Distinction the student should have completed the course without any break.

Promotion Scheme:

        A student will be eligible for promotion from 1st year to 2nd year irrespective of arrears in the 1st and 2nd semester papers.
        For promotion of a student from 2nd year to 3rd year of the course, the student must have completed successfully all the papers in the 1st and 2nd semesters.
        For promotion of a student from 3rd year to 4th year of the course, the student must have completed successfully all the papers in the 3rd and 4th semesters.
        Similarly, for promotion of a student from 4th year to 5th year of the course the student must have completed successfully the papers in the 5th and 6th semesters.
        Examinations will be held at the end of each semester.
        If a student fails to satisfy the eligibility for promotion in accordance with the conditions stated above, he/ she would not be permitted to the next higher class.
